In the hours after MPD officers cleared out the George Washington University encampment protesting the war in Gaza and arrested more than 30 people, protestors and city leaders have expressed mixed reactions.

D.C. Councilmember Robert White told 7News he spoke with D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser earlier this week and was caught off guard by the arrests early Wednesday morning.

"She essentially said she would follow the law, but didn't give any indication that anything was forthcoming," White said.
