Watch if you have these problems: you cannot think of rhymes when freestyling, or you rhyme the same words and sounds.

(The importance of rhyme) rhyming for emcees is like a melody for singers. It adds color, character, and emotion to the lyrics. It catches the ear of the listener. If the craft of rap were a cake, then rhyming would be the icing.

(Rhyming can be difficult) Focus just on rhyming because it is not practice as much reasoning in a daily conversation. We are not required to speak in rhyme or rhythm every day. Thus, our minds are less practiced in the patterns of producing rhymes. The more you listen to emcees and singers, the more you are capable of recognizing rhymes, but you may struggle in the beginning to create your own rhyming patterns.

We want rhyming to be effortless because the greater challenge is communicating and making sense while entertaining and engaging the listener. Here are two drills to make rhyming, like breathing, second nature.
