The news of an athlete breaking a world record will quickly flood the internet as the legend adds their name to the Guinness Book of Records. Away from sports, there are other records that more often go unnoticed. Talk of records in science, to be precise Rocket Science. You cannot talk of records in the space and rocket industry without mentioning SpaceX; Musk’s space company that is taking the standards in the industry higher and higher.

In this video, we will delve into records that SpaceX has broken leaving everyone shocked.

Let us dig deep.
When you talk of records you must just mention numbers. For SpaceX, the numbers talk for themselves. And if you have any doubts, remember that numbers don’t lie. To date, SpaceX boasts of 232 total launches, 296 total landings and 266 refights. What an achievement! Before we deeply examine the launches, landings and refights let us get to appreciate some historic milestones that SpaceX has made so far.
In 2012 The SpaceX Dragon 2 goes on record as the first commercial spacecraft to deliver cargo to and from the International Space Station. The Dragon 2 space craft came at the right time as it replaced NASA’s space shuttle that had retired a few months earlier. After taking cargo to the International Space Station, the SpaceX engineering team started working on a space craft that could take astronauts to the International Space Station. After more than 8 years of serious research and development, SpaceX came up with the Crew Dragon which is the first private space craft to take astronauts to the International Space Station. The crew Dragon Space craft was a big win for not just SpaceX but also America, as it eliminated NASA’s dependence on the Russian Soyuz capsule for ferrying astronauts to the International Space Station. It is not just the American government but the entire world that is experiencing the impact of SpaceX.
Today, more than 2.7 million customers can enjoy very fast internet from the SpaceX Starlink program. The success of the Starlink satellite internet is directly pegged on SpaceX’s superiority of launching satellites into the low earth orbit. It is nothing short of impressive to learn that SpaceX has already launched more than 6,000 satellites in the low earth orbit that help in the provision of the advanced broadband satellite internet. You can be sure that the number of satellites deployed will even go higher in the coming days as SpaceX aims to send 12,000 satellites to the low earth orbit. There is a possibility of even extending the numbers to 34, 400 satellites later on. The end goal, is to see that everyone in the world can access high speed satellite internet regardless of their location on earth. If SpaceX maintains the trajectory they have been taking there is no doubt that they will achieve this milestone.
The secret behind the many launches of SpaceX satellites and spacecrafts is a faster launch turn around. A few weeks ago, everyone was shocked in the space industry after SpaceX launched 2 rockets in a span of less than 4 hours. The first of the two launches took off at 5:52 pm EDT (2152 GMT) on Saturday, March 30. A Falcon 9 rocket sent the Eutelsat 36D telecommunications satellite to orbit from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center. A short time later, at 9:30 pm EDT (0130 GMT), another Falcon 9 lifted 23 Starlink satellites from Cape Canaveral.
Dominating the launch scene, SpaceX's Falcon 9 family shattered the record for most successful launches in a year by a single launch vehicle family in 2023. With a flawless performance of 96 missions, they surpassed the previous record of 63 launches, held by the R-7 family in 1980, by a significant margin.
