This painting was discovered on BBC Antiques Roadshow (episode 3230). It was thought by the owner to be a copy of a William Orpen painting. It turned out, indeed, to be a copy, but by Orpen, himself. The intriguing back story of this painting netted the owner a £250,000 appraisal by Rupert Maas.
