The Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol has established the phasedown of HFC refrigerants worldwide. HFC refrigerants are currently the primary refrigerants in use such as; R410A, R404A, R134A, R407C, R422B, R438A, R458A and many others. As we make the transition away from these A1 ASHRAE classified refrigerants it is important to be aware of the flammability of many of the new and replacement refrigerants. Many of our new refrigerants will fall under the classification of A2L and A3. But what does that mean?
