I was alerted to a dangerous situation by my phone which required immediate action. My house had a harmful amount of CO2 and VOC's and we need to ventilate ASAP. Luckily my ecobee Premium thermostat and Home Assistant smart home setup gave me the alerts and tools to be able to monitor, diagnosis and correct the issue. Here's how it all went down and how I solved my issue. It was mainly driven by remote starting my vehicle in the attached garage (with the garage door open) and then having the man door to the house open which pulled in exhaust fumes from the garage and contaminated the house.
