A prostate cancer diagnosis likely leaves you in a state of shock- and that is not a good state to be in to make a level-headed decision about treatment options. A surgeon encouraging me to look at the longer timeline- and to take into account quality of life issues ended up with me not have surgery at all! I am not a doctor and am just sharing anecdotally the choices I made. Find out all you can and then discuss with your doctor the best course of treatment for you.
