Equipment downtime is an annoying fact of life. I decided to use this as an opportunity to properly fix the exhaust system on the 911, which paid major dividends in underground air quality. Previously, I'd attempted to band-aid the 40-year-old original exhaust ducting, but it reached the point where it was so worn out that I was just wasting my time and components needed to be replaced. After fixing it up, essentially all exhaust is going where it should - through the water scrubber!

I wouldn't be surprised if the exhaust leak also caused the alternator to fail prematurely due to overheating. With that said, the alternator was also a 1983 original and didn't owe us anything.
