LNP MP Keith Pith says Snowy 2.0 suffering a fresh crisis is an example of what happens when you rely on intermittent wind and solar.

Mr Pitt's remarks are in relation to a partial collapse at the main Snowy 2.0 construction site due to “drill and blast” operations in an adjacent tunnel.

The collapse has raised questions about the safety procedures for tunnelling and why blasting for one tunnel was happening so close to another one.

“This is what happens, it was untested, they are uncertain of the cost,” he told Sky News Australia host Peta Credlin.

“Now we know the cost is blowing out by an extraordinary number.

“This is what happens when you want to rely on intermittent wind and solar.”
