Chad: Counting Underway After First Presidential Polls in 30 Years | Firstpost Africa
The African nation of Chad is set to become the first of the junta-ruled states to transition to democratic rule. Counting of votes is underway after the country held its first presidential election in 30 years earlier this week. Though the analysts say the incumbent President Deby Itno is expected to win, there is scepticism about whether the election would bring any change in the country. The oil-exporting country in the Sahel region has not held a free and fair transition of power since its independence in 1960 after decades of French colonial rule. Watch this video for details.
