Bharat Ratna Pandit Bhimsen Joshi was known for his musical creativity; it just sort of flowed out of him,He was most closely associated with the Kirana tradition of khayal singing, which emphasizes fluidity of melody. But he also drew freely from India's many other vocal styles. As a result, according to news accounts over the years, his concerts had a pluralistic appeal that could transcend ethnic, linguistic, religious and class lines.
