Hello all! I am Dr Skanda Moorthy, a consultant Neurosurgeon and alumnus of All India Institute of Medical Sciences New Delhi. Pituitary adenoma is a very commonly encountered benign brain tumor which can be treated successfully with very minimal damage to the patient if the treatment is sought at the right time. However if the patient presents late, he or she may have permanent loss of vision and a large sized tumor may even endanger the life of the patient. A type of functional pituitary adenoma where there is excess of growth hormone secretion leads to a condition called as gigantism/acromegaly that we have commonly encountered in the WWE champion The Great Khali, who is a pride of our nation!
