I had sewer work done, planted new seed and added peat moss. I then did a full renovation, piled dirt on top, added more peat moss, and I had no clue why my lawn was discolored in the original area I had sewer work done…

Until I took a soil sample and saw the peat moss.

The only practical solution was to remove that area and redo it. So that’s what I’m doing.

The poor turf quality was due to high amounts of peat moss (organic matter).

I think a light layer is still okay when seeding. And using a peat moss spreader would help control how much you apply. I was too cheap to buy one, but I regret not even renting one. If interested in a quality spreader see link below.
