A team of researchers at the University of Alberta is sequencing the genome of trees to figure out why some trees are resilient when faced with climate change. The Genome Alberta Resilient Forests project is sequencing spruce and pine trees, with the hope that the province can plant resilient trees in areas ravaged by wildfire, disease and clearcutting.
