On Halloween weekend in 2012, NYC was hit by a devastating hurricane, which had strong winds, heavy rain, and increased sea levels.
Today, 9 years later, we have mostly recovered from the damage of the storm, yet one geologic feature in particular has remained.
A breach in Fire Island that was opened during Hurricane Sandy has remained open, although not without debate.
