Elon Musk REVEALS Starship V3 Specifications!

Elon Musk, the CEO of SpaceX, provided a significant update on the Starship program this month. He discussed the company's plans for the next rockets, the fourth test flight, the goals of the Starship program for 2024, and SpaceX's goal to build a self-sustaining community on Mars.

Since the talk he gave in September 2016 in Guadalajara, Mexico, Elon Musk has been discussing his ambitious plans for settling on Mars in public for over eight years.

Musk picked up the mantle of his "making life multi-planetary" cause once more this past weekend at SpaceX's Starbase facility in South Texas. Speaking to staff members at the company's Starship manufacturing site, Musk emphasized the "extreme urgency" of spreading the "light of consciousness" beyond Earth. This isn't to say that protecting Earth isn't important or that humanity should abandon it. Musk stated that instead of wanting mankind to continue as a one-planet civilization that would eventually experience a disaster that would wipe out the species, he did not want that to happen.

For fans of space travel and Musk watchers, all of this is rather well-known ground. However, in the last eight years, he has developed into a more polarizing and controversial figure. Many people will write off Musk's remarks about Mars as the ramblings of a megalomaniac based solely on his actions. That would be incorrect, though, at least in relation to spaceflight. Musk's current aspirations for a multiplanetary enterprise are now more plausible due to SpaceX's progress toward fulfilling his pledges.

SpaceX has successfully conducted three test launches using real hardware today. Next month, there could be a fourth.

This past weekend, Musk described the bold Mars vision as "real, but surreal."

Musk covered the Starship rocket, the upper stage, and the company's eventual intentions to transport millions of tons of goods to Mars in order to establish a self-sustaining civilization throughout his 45-minute address.

Musk pointed out that although thousands of launches may seem unattainable, SpaceX has so far carried out 327 successful Falcon launches, with 80 percent of those involving the usage of used rockets. He stated that SpaceX plans to launch roughly 90% of the mass that the planet sends into orbit this year. He said that around 6 percent would come from China, and the remaining 4 percent would come from the rest of the world.

Musk is now confident that the Super Heavy booster that propels Starship can be made reusable thanks to this kind of performance. The corporation plans to attempt a virtual tower landing of the rocket in the Gulf of Mexico during the vehicle's next test flight, which might take place in May. SpaceX plans to use the chopstick-like mechanisms on Starship's huge launch tower to attempt to grab the booster on the fifth test flight provided that the landing is accurate enough.

"That’s very much a success-oriented schedule, but it is within the realm of possibility," Musk stated. Musk stated that there are 80 to 90 percent chance of catching the booster with the launch tower this year, given the numerous test flights that are taking place this year.
