My project this year focuses on sustainability from various perspectives, and this time the message revolves around living a sustainable life by taking care of oneself and one's well-being. The pop cultural visual inspiration for this video is Marilyn Monroe and her "Diamonds are a girl's best friend" - where the glittering surface hides a tragic existence.
In the message, I aim to flip the concept and assert that the real diamonds are found when one opens up to being in the present moment instead of a world where we are pressured towards superficiality. Marilyn was celebrated for her surface allure but also possessed great talent. When I was young, it was her voice that I loved, and many times in my life, I've thought that not enough focus was placed on her talent.
