In a bit of a departure from drilling, blasting, and wrenching, I decided to quantitatively characterize two-way radio coverage in the mine. Our primary (expected) takeaway is that some kind of infrastructure is required on the 130 level to provide radio coverage to the working face. This may take the form of a portable simplex repeater, mine phone interface, or something entirely different. As it stands, we usually leave a handheld at the 130 junction to act as a pager for the face crew.
