After weeks of protests on the USC campus over the ongoing Israel-Hamas War, anticipation is building ahead of a graduate celebration event on Thursday, May 9.

The traditional commencement ceremony was canceled in late April over “safety concerns” initially stemming from the removal of the university’s valedictorian from speaking at the ceremony. On May 9, a ticketed event called "Trojan Family Graduate Celebration" at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum will take place instead.
