Elon Musk Slams Australian Regulators' Request!

Elon Musk and the Australian government are involved in more than just a verbal spat. A verbal spat and threats of legal action have resulted from the rising tensions. The Prime Minister of Australia, Anthony Albanese, referred to Elon Musk as an arrogant billionaire, while an unelected bureaucrat stated that the CEO of Tesla ought to be imprisoned. As the discussion over violent content veers into a broader free speech issue, Elon Musk has escalated his verbal spat with the Australian government over requests that the X social media site erase recordings of a Sydney bishop being stabbed.

For the past week, the eccentric billionaire has been at odds with Australia's eSafety Commissioner Julie Inman Grant and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese in public over what he refers to as an "attempt to censor the entire world."

Musk shared a post on Tuesday claiming that X was now the top downloaded news app in Australia and that the people there wanted the truth. “X is the only one standing up for their rights.”

The Tesla CEO had already been attacked by Mr. Albanese as "arrogant" and someone who "thinks he's above Australian law," while Senator Jacqui Lambie of Tasmania had called him a "friggin' disgrace" who "should be in jail" before closing her X account.

Musk shot back, saying, "This woman has complete contempt for the Australian people."

Rumble's CEO, Chris Pavlovski, stated that the alternative video site "stands united" with X and Musk.

Mr. Pavlovski stated on Tuesday, "Australia has made it clear that they believe in taking away human rights (freedom of expression) in order to satisfy what they deem appropriate for your eyes and ears."

"Australia is not a free country officially."

It follows a Monday injunction from a federal judge for X to remove from the site any articles that showed graphic footage of Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel being attacked during a sermon that was being streamed live on YouTube.

The horrific stabbing on April 15 at Wakeley's Christ the Good Shepherd Church in the west of the city, which was purportedly carried out by a 15-year-old terrorist yelling "Allahu Akbar," caused a violent riot that left up to 2000 people injured and damaged police cars.

After X and Meta, the company that owns Facebook and Instagram, were ordered last week to remove the content, the eSafety Commissioner on Monday was granted a two-day temporary court injunction.

If X disregards the order, it may be fined up to $550,000 every day starting on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
