When I really think about it, this generator is the most important piece of equipment we operate. Without it, we'd have no ventilation, surface power, or compressed air! While we have a backup compressor and a backup genset in town (that CAT/Kato unit I purchased a while back), I'd much rather keep this unit in good health. An oil and filter change is just part of that. I ordered a fuel filter/water separator after this service.

The lack of an inner air filter element initially concerned me. After checking my parts manual, it turns out that these DVE units were sold standard with a single filter element; dual air filters were an optional configuration. Other than a change to the service indicator system, converting from a single- to a dual-filter configuration looks to be a simple matter of installing the second filter. Definitely something to consider!
