Welcome to an introduction of Blue Zones! This video discusses what Blue Zones are; where the original Blue Zones exist; how people’s lifespans are longer in these areas; and why other communities may be interested in learning from Blue Zones. Blue Zones are communities that have been found using research and data to have higher concentrations of people who live abnormally long lives. There are five original Blue Zones across the globe which have nine commonalities—the Power 9, a criteria created by a team of medical researchers, anthropologists, demographers, and epidemiologists led by Dan Buettner and National Geographic.

This video was made by McMaster University students Sarah Gillies, Mahek Marker, Ali Zead, and Lokesh Muvva in collaboration with the Demystifying Medicine McMaster Program.
