Ravel’s Bolero is performed by the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France under Lionel Bringuier ‘s direction. Live recording on February 16th 2018 in the auditorium of Radio France (Paris).

Though the spanish dancer Ida Rubinstein ordered Ravel a ballet on orchestrated Isaac Albeniz pieces, the French composer chose to work on a specific spanish dance called Bolero, because of its potential repetitive and haunting aspect.

The Bolero is built on two phrases alternated and repeated without any rhythmic change. The irresistible effect of this captivating piece is rather the result of the perpetual crescendo and addition of instruments.
