Mark Lanegan was Screaming Trees lead vocalist during the entire existence of the band from 1985 - 2000. He contributed co-lead and backing vocals in Queens of the Stone Age from 2001–2005, in addition to some keyboard work with QOTSA (it should be noted that Josh Homme was a member of the Screaming Trees from 1996 - 1998). Mark Lanegan worked on many other projects and released 11 studio albums. A notable project of Mark Lanegan's was The Jury, which consisted of him, Screaming Tree's bandmate Mark Pickerel, Kurt Cobain & Krist Novoselic from Nirvana. Their cover of 'Where Did You Sleep Last Night?' (In The Pines) appears on Mark Lanegan's debut record The Winding Sheet.

Screaming Trees released 8 studio albums & 4 EPs. Their studio albums are, Clairvoyance (1986), Even If and Especially When (1987), Invisible Lantern (1988), Buzz Factory (1989), Uncle Anesthesia (1991), Sweet Oblivion (1992), Dust (1996) & Last Words: The Final Recordings (2011). Their extended plays are Other Worlds (1985), Beat Happening/Screaming Trees (1988), Change Has Come (1989), Something About Today (1990).

Steve Fisk produced several of Screaming Trees recordings, in this interview he discusses how Mark Lanegan recorded vocals, what it was like working with him & more.

Mark Lanegan, Gary Lee Conner, Van Conner, Mark Pickerel, Barrett Martin & Josh Homme are all of the official band members the Screaming Trees have had over the years. Some of Screaming Trees biggest songs include Nearly Lost You, Dollar Bill, Shadow of the Season, Butterfly, All I Know, Bed of Roses, No one Knows, Look At You, Dying Days, & Alice Said. Though not as commercially successful as Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains or Soundgarden, Screaming Trees is considered on of the pioneering bands of the Seattle grunge movement, along with Mudhoney, Tad, the Melvins, Green River & more.
