“You’re The One” was written when someone bet Buddy he couldn’t write a song in 20 minutes. He came back in 15 with this great tune. Waylon Jennings helped out with hand claps and got one of first songwriting credits!

Note: Contrary to what some believe, "Learning the Game" is not Buddy's last song. It was recorded in New York on December 17, 1958 according to Buddy's handwritten notes on the tape box. "You're the One" was written and recorded ten days later, on December 27, 1958 at radio station KLLL in Lubbock. This is well documented in Remembering Buddy by Goldrosen & Beecher as well as in Buddy Holly: Day-By-Day by Bill Griggs; both books are considered authoritative sources on the facts of Buddy's life.
