Cross section of a feijoa, fruit of the Acca Sellowiana plant - a member of the a species of flowering plant in the myrtle family.
It appears as a dark-green dense bush with delicious green fruit that makes an excellent edible hedge or stand-alone plant.
The tree originates from from the highlands of southern Brazil, parts of Colombia, Uruguay, Paraguay and northern Argentina. They are also grown throughout Azerbaijan , Iran (Ramsar) , Georgia, Russia (Sochi) and New Zealand.
It is also known as a pineapple guava.
