(9/22/2023) - The Weeknd initially released "Die For You" the same time as his 2016 studio album, "Starboy" (#TBT). In a short time, it became a fan-favorite from the project and was released as a single proper in September 2017. The track was already popular, but then it received a proper global resurgence in mid-late 2022, mainly due to TikTok. The song became the global hit around this time into 2023, also helped by a Ariana Grande remix, which was released in February 2023. The song is a pop/R&B ballad, mainly about a relationship falling but still having intense feelings for the other person. The song has performed strong worldwide, hitting the top 10 & receiving certifications in multiple countries, including a number one placement on the Billboard Hot 100 following the Ariana remix.
