Alabama teenager YBN Nahmir scored his first breakout hit in 2017 with “Rubbin Off the Paint,” a song that gained attention in part because people thought he was dissing Texas MC Tay-K. While Nahmir has since cleared up that misinterpretation, the song has continued to perform well. It has earned over 15 million Spotify streams since its release, on top of 52 million YouTube views for its music video. Bryson Tiller even remixed it last week.
