What was going to be a great DIY mold remediation video ended up transitioning into a more in-depth look at the unforeseen that can occur during the mold remediation process. All was going as planned until the toilet was removed, at which point, this was no longer "DIY worthy".

Within this video, I will talk you through the tools, machinery and supplies needed to undertake smaller mold-related material removal. You will also learn how to setup a containment barrier, install a construction zipper and even establish filtered make-up within your work area. If you didn't already know how to remove a toilet, well, you'll see how that's done here as well.

As a follow-up to the video, let me lay out exactly what you'll need to tackle a DIY mold removal project...

Tools:
Hammer
Pry bar
Drill driver
Channel locks or pliers (not always needed)
Razer knife
Multi-tool (not required, but makes for faster work)
Wire brush

Supplies:
Trash bags
Plastic Sheeting (6 mil thickness)
Zipper
Air filter (12"x12" is typically sufficient)
Painters tape
Duct tape

Machinery:
Commercial dehumidifier
HEPA-filtered air scrubber
HEPA vacuum cleaner (and all the attachments)

Disclaimer: Hiring a professional mold remediator should always be your first choice. While DIY mold remediation is possible, this video shows first-hand the dangers associated with remediation services. PPE should be worn at all times when working within a mold-impacted environment.
