A few years ago I wrote a blog post on how I had acquired possibly the best-quality audio of Buffalo Springfield's 1967 "Bluebird" acetate that had first aired on an L.A. radio station that spring, courtesy of the band, and later on WBCN in Boston, courtesy of one of its deejays, Charles Laquidara, who had gotten it from Richie Furay and Jim Messina when Charles had been working at Pasadena's KPPC in 1968.

The blog post can be found here: https://donzblog.home.blog/2019/01/23...

The post ended with a link to the acetate. Recently, someone let me know that that link was dead.

So I decided to upload it here. But rather than share just the acetate, I decided to put together all of the known studio mixes and live television and concert performances of the song by the original band in 1967 and '68. Here's the breakdown:

1. April 1967. Studio recording. The acetate (9:29)

2. April 1967. Studio recording. The long version that was included on Atco's 2-LP collection released in 1973. The differences between this and the acetate are noted in the blog post, but the first thing you'll notice here is that this mix is 29 seconds shorter. (9:00)

3. April 1967. Studio recording. The mix on the band's second LP, "Buffalo Springfield Again." (4:27)

4. April 1967. Studio recording. The shortened mix for the released single. (2:02)

5. June 18, 1967. Live performance. Monterey Pop Festival. (4:47)

6. August 11, 1967. Live performance. Teen & Twenty Club, Huntington Beach, California. (9:20)

7. August 14, 1967. Television soundtrack. Broadcast October 28, 1967 on "Mannix," heard twice. (5:01)

8. April 20, 1968. Live performance. Market Hall, Dallas, Texas. (12:12)

9. May 5, 1968. Live performance. Long Beach Sports Arena, California. This was the final song of the group's final concert. (23:01)

Source notes:
1. Acetate: dub from WBCN-FM (Boston), received June 2, 1971.

3. "Again" LP version from HDCD.
4. '45 mix; equalized.
5. Monterey: from CD "Monterey, Mannix & Gold Stars"; pitch-corrected, equalized.
6. Teen & Twenty: from CD "Trail of the Buffalo" (Neil Young); pitch-corrected.
7. Mannix: aired October 28, 1967; from videotape; same performance aired in two scenes.
