Character is Photar, also known as Epsilon - the robot perished in the rain when fighting Pluto, a much larger, destructive machine. Being solar powered, he found himself at a disadvantage, ultimately perishing by electrocution, blowing up in a massive spectacle when trying to save a human child he cared for. All of these was ON screen and was just absolutely traumatic. It's why Pluto is to this day one of the villains I still fear the most.

The episode was "The Greatest Robot in the World", and the uncensored version can only be found by digging. While the scene doesn't show much more than bright lights and sparks, it's the overall trauma in the episode that caused it to be censored.

He was such a sweet character, it's a heartbreaking scene for a children's show. Not to mention the numerous other deaths that occurred on screen that would definitely not be allowed today. Robots or not. However, it was the un-censorship and the emotion that made it so memorable.
