Blue Bossa BUT IT'S EDM 🤯🤯

“Blue Bossa,” a jazz standard written by Kenny Dorham, arranged by Chris Bandy. As you can probably tell, I changed almost everything about it—the melody, harmony, rhythm, style, and instrumentation. I wanted to blend in elements of dubstep and trap, and also make use of the “Artificial Persona” EDM bass that I found back in April. (I used somewhere around 16 bass synth tracks in this piece.) I composed, mixed, and mastered in Logic and edited the video in Final Cut. For the main viewer shots, I used Apple’s built-in Screen Recorder. For the piano roll shots, Apple’s Screen Recorder was choppy, so I instead took a series of screenshots and stitched them together into a very long—i.e., 28,000 pixels long—photo and animated it to scroll by in Final Cut—the result was silky smooth as you can see. I then color-corrected it and overlaid a still image of the playhead on top. Thanks to Aleyna Margaret Brown and Dr. Adam Roberts for listening and providing feedback, much of which I incorporated. Enjoy!
