The song has it's roots in the Super Mario video game franchise. Koopa troopa is an enemy of mario, often appearing in various games of the franchise. His appearence in "new super mario bros'" on the wii helped create the viral trend. In that game a song called "Overworld theme" was used which had characters dance during the part of the song that sounded like "Bah Bah", despite what situation he may be in. Others picked up on the humor of the dance and began to parody it. Helping create a viral meme/trend in the process.
