92-year-old Dov Golebowicz is a survivor. And a lucky one, he says. Dov was born in Poland and left for Australia in 1939 with his family, escaping the Holocaust
His family moved to North Carlton, Melbourne, went to RMIT University and studied engineering and construction. Dov met his wife Lily in 1947, and together they moved to Israel in 1955 and helped build Kibbutz Nirim.
Dov’s wife passed away 8 years ago. So on the Saturday morning of October 7, Dov was alone in his home when Hamas began its invasion. Dov Golebowicz shared his story with 7NEWS Europe Bureau Chief, Hugh Whitfeld, from a secure location in Tel Aviv.
