Windows 7 build 6758: A new version of Windows 7 after 15 years.

Windows 7 has been discontinued as software a few years ago, even the next version with Windows 8. Developers have continued to explore one of the most successful versions of Microsoft and have found a new test version of this operating system.

Microsoft stopped shipping support for Windows 7 in January 2020 and most users moved to Windows 8 soon after, but that doesn't mean it has abandoned it completely. The software continues to be in the news as many users continue to use it.

This new beta version is known as Windows 7 build 6758. The most notable changes in the build are an update to the design to make it more modern. Windows 7 build 6758 also laid the foundation for future improvements related to the Windows configuration process, the management of programs in the Control Panel, the Shell (graphical interface that has been maintained until Windows 10) and the Start menu.

Windows Explorer had already undergone certain aesthetic changes in previous versions and now integrates improvements in the user experience. The Start menu includes quick access to your document, image, and video libraries for the first time.

Windows 7 build 6758 was a revolution in terms of customization options. Build 6758 brought some changes to desktop gadgets, which no longer run by default. Users can manage them more efficiently from User Account Control (UAC). Other options such as the design of the notification tray and side menus are also customizable.

Windows 7 build 6758 pioneered improvements in programs related to multimedia playback such as Windows Media Center, Windows Media Player, and Windows DVD Maker.

The Calculator app had a more elegant aesthetic in build 6758, but Microsoft did not maintain it for the final version.

Windows 7 build 6758 beta can now be run
Windows 7 Build 6758 has been uploaded to the Internet Archive almost 15 years after its release. Those nostalgic for this operating system will be able to download the ISO disk images of the users and the server.

The beta version can be installed and run on tools like VMware Player. Microsoft continues to offer support with security patches for the Windows Embedded POSReady 7 version of Windows 7. The company will stop providing security updates starting October 8, 2024.
