Week 28 in the ongoing Ⓢ series, which follows the construction of a new 13-story senior living building in San Francisco. This is a #construction #timelapse with various closeups and "sub-time-lapses" at various speeds, condensing the week of August 10 - 16, 2020, into about 55 minutes.

We're leaving that "comfortable zone" mentioned last week and starting to see a few more new things, a trend that will accelerate as the building goes higher and we see more interior work. In this particular episode, we see work on interior walls for the first time, and we also see safety nets going into place. More of the temporary supports are being removed from the lower floors. On Friday, it is time for another field trip to get some views from street level. There's yet another big concrete pour on Wednesday. Since our views of the concrete pours are going to be rapidly deteriorating from this point forward as the building goes higher, I spent a fair amount of time on this concrete pour.

This is a rare episode that extends into Sunday, because on Sunday morning the first lightning storm that started the massive West Coast wildfires of 2020 passed through. The cameras don't usually run on Sunday, so only the Sunday morning portion of the storm was caught on our cameras. If I had known at the time that this was the start of record-breaking historic events, I might have had cameras running on Sunday! The storm system lasts into Monday, however, so we'll see a few remnants of it at the start of the next episode.

Thunderstorms / lightning storms are uncommon in San Francisco, typically happening at most once or twice per year, almost always in the winter. There are typically only one or two days of measurable rainfall in the summer, and summer thunderstorms are very rare, so this was a rare event!

Because these episodes run about a month or so behind real time, we're just now getting to this point in the story. Future episodes will reflect the record hot weather and the record wildfires, even causing such poor air quality due to smoke that the site is temporarily shut down on some days -- all coming up in future episodes. (There's no smoke yet in this episode, it is still all fog.)
