When Devshi Mehrotra co-founded JusticeText with her University of Chicago classmate, she realized that someone had to be their company’s primary salesperson. With her co-founder focused on technical software engineering, she realized that the salesperson had to be her, despite having no prior experience in sales.

Devshi highlights that effective sales isn't about directly pitching a product, but rather understanding the needs of potential clients. She stresses that isolation in development is futile; sales act as the conduit for real-world exposure. To build her network from the ground up, she employed diverse methods like seeking mentor advice, cold calls, and emails to connect with her target audience.

Adapting based on recurring questions in conversations helped her sieve out impactful solutions and improve her sales pitch with every new opportunity. Her message stresses persistence, readiness for rejection, and the ultimate reward of finding partners who believe in and invest in one's early-stage journey.
