British High Commission, New Delhi
In India the visa applications for travellers to Britain are decided by a small group of Brits on a 2 year posting in New Delhi. We see them interviewing suspect “students” and other potential visitors like the 35 year old Punjabi who’s just married a 60 year old Welsh woman. The visa officers at the high commission suspect a sham marriage, but can they find any proof?

Glasgow, Enforcement
The Glasgow immigration team are given a tip off that there’s a number of illegal immigrants living in a flat not too far from the Glasgow UKBA office. They make an early morning surprise visit and are disappointed to find two Asian men who are both legally in the UK. However, one officer spots an open kitchen window. They’re up on the third floor. Down below they see a man crawling slowly towards some dustbins. They realise he must have leapt through the window and he could be seriously injured. Immigration Officer Ashleigh Pears races down the stairwell and finds the man in terrible pain and discomfort. She talks to him and keeps him warm. He starts to slip in and out of consciousness. Ashleigh’s first aid keeps him awake until the ambulance comes. In the fall he’s broken his back. Amazingly he was with another man who also leapt out of the window, but he mustn’t be too bad as he’s vanished into the streets of Glasgow. The man with the broken back will be sent back to Pakistan once his papers are sorted.

Heathrow
A bodyguard from South Africa is stopped at passport control because he’s too poor to fund his time in Britain. He says he’s here to help a friend decorate. Immigration Officers think he may be looking for work. He’s put in the holding room for nearly 5 hours and loses his temper. Officer Lisa Lea stands firm against his aggressive tirade.

Liverpool, Enforcement
A restaurant with form in Liverpool. A curry house has been raided before by Liverpool Enforcement and this time the same result, more illegal workers. A man form Iran breaks down in tears as he’s caught red handed and young woman form India who says she was just in the kitchen this one time learning how to cook, is also arrested and removed from Britain.
