This is a song I created last year during my stay in Shillong. It was the third lockdown for COVID-19 and we were in Shillong for sometime. Featured here is my brother Dibya, we call him ‘Brother Lui’. Shillong and brother Lui has been an integral part of my life from my childhood till now. My initial understanding of music guitar chords has been through Brother Lui. He is more of a friend guide and a well wisher and a cousin bro of course. He has played guitars in two of the songs, in my first ever audio album and Jonaki Raati. In fact he also used to play with my father and mother on stage.
And Shillong, has been a constant in my life almost every year since I was maybe 15. We together have so many memories in the streets of Shillong, in the mists of Shillong, that we wanted to make a song together someday and here it is. A song down the memory lane. Shillongor Maya.
A simple song, simple music remembering simpler days!
I literally produced the entire album on my laptop, in my bedroom in Shillong. I wrote the Lyrics in a day and Parasher shot the video in a single day with a single camera! We just played it by the ear and things fell in place.
This song will remain very special to me forever… for so many reasons!
