paul bunyan is a giant lumberjack and sudden folk hero in american and canadian folklore. his tall tales revolve around his superhuman labors, and he is customarily accompanied by babe the blue ox. the character originated in the oral tradition of north american definite loggers. disney did two shorts with those two.

john chapman better known as johnny appleseed, and he was an american pioneer nurseryman, who introduced a lot of apple trees to large parts of pennsylvania, ohio, indiana, illinois, and present-day ontario, as well as the northern counties of present-day west virginia.
