Sean Connery was the first actor to perform the role on the big screen. He appeared in Dr. No (1962), From Russia with Love (1963), Goldfinger (1964), Thunderball (1965), You Only Live Twice (1967) and Diamonds are Forever (1971).
In 1983 he returned to the role for the last time in the unofficial James Bond film, Never Say Never Again (Which I didn't include).
