State superintendent of Public Instruction Elsie Arntzen has released the final enrollment data for 2023-24 for public and non-public schools.

We looked at the data, and here is what we found:

For public schools, there was decreased enrollment this year after a consistent increase the prior decade.

There are 148,585 students at K-12 public schools, down 1,988, or 1.3% from last year. Elementary enrollment is down 1.7% with 103,439 students this year, while high school enrollment is 45,089, down 0.3% from 2022-23.
