Always intrigued by the people who walked before them, The Crew were honored to receive a personal tour of the WW2 battle sites of Okinawa - the bloodiest battle in the Pacific, sadly glossed over in history class in favor of the European theatre. Allied forces and saw some of the worst fighting of the war in the Pacific. In fact, the battles of Okinawa and Iwo Jima were so bad, it made it clear that dropping the atomic bombs on Japan were the only way to avoid losing more American lives and end the war. In the end, more lives were lost in Okinawa and Iwo Jima than the combined loss of life from the Nagasaki and Hiroshima bombs.

Chaplin Alf Mathews from Torii Station walks Viv and Erik from the first Allied landing on Torii Beach, to Kakazu Ridge and on to the now movie famous Hacksaw Ridge. It was here that Private Desmond Doss saved a hundred men from atop the ridge, lowering them to safety throughout the night ... not once firing a gun. He earned himself a Medal of Honor for his bravery and inspired the Mel Gibson 2016 film "Hacksaw Ridge". The Crew also explore under the ridge, crawling into the extensive cave system under the ridge, used by the Japanese to successfully protect themselves from Allied artillery, making it very hard for the American soldiers to take the ridge.

Although littered with WW2 history - from pill boxes and underground cave systems used by the Japanese, they also explore a much older history - walls of Ryukyu Castles, still standing from the 15th Century.
