Frank Morgan, a notorious gunfighter hardened by years on the run, receives an urgent telegram from his former lover, Linda. Without hesitation, he mounts his horse and rides back to her side. When he arrives, he discovers Linda married to the town's general store owner and the mother of a daughter he never knew he had. Despite the passage of time, Linda's plea for help isn't rooted in rekindling lost love, but in a dire request for Frank to protect her husband, the temporary sheriff. A dangerous showdown looms as the sheriff faces a released convict determined to free his cousin, a jailed bank robber. Caught between his old love and his new-found daughter, Frank must decide whether to aid the man who holds his family's future or abandon them all and return to his life on the run.
