"'In Blue' introduces us to those different worlds, especially Nicu's. This produces beautiful images, with wintry Bucharest as the hushed backdrop. The world of Lin and her mother is perhaps a bit too sterile (Vinex, colourless, austere interior), although you get a good idea of what is going on in Lin's head through her conversations with her mother. We get that even better when we see her busy in her role as trainer of student flight attendants (and an occasional steward). The psychology of both characters is always believable, no matter how strange their actions seem at times. With Maria Kraakman (Lin) and Bogdan Iancu (Nicu), we also have two fine actors in the house."
