Hans Zimmer won his second Oscar for ‘Dune’ (2021), after being nominated on ten separate occasions. Zimmer has been a huge Dune fan since childhood, so this was a passion project for him.

Chani’s leitmotif is mainly just three notes, followed by three more. It has a very ethereal and an almost breathing-like quality to it. This is fitting considering Paul sees Chani many times in his dreams and in visions, and also that she is frequently heard whispering his name. You can hear the whisper in this suite.

It’s very difficult to decipher what leitmotifs belong to what character / place / concept in Dune, but I do feel quite confidently that this is Chani’s theme.
