One day in 2008, a film crew consisting of Thomas (Glenn Erland Tosterud) and Johanna (Johanna Mørck) from the University of Voda, Norway, travels to the remote mountains to track down bear hunters. Among the legal hunters, they hear word of mouth about a man named Hans, who is described as a lawless executioner. The crew waited at Hans's trailer park and managed to meet him, but he was uncooperative. The young men are relentless and decide to follow him, which leads to an unbelievable sight in a forest: a giant monster over ten meters tall with three heads. Hans calls it a troll, a product of the government's secret genetic modification, mostly living on rocks and afraid of ultraviolet radiation.
