Of the song Sparrow Felix said, “These songs kind have a throwback to earlier days, and I feel like they are the sort of chords I would have written as a 19-year-old and now 20 years later it’s nice to come back to them, and part of that was trying to create some live energy and some breath in the recordings. We had a fantastic group of Spaniards adding the palmas, claps to these songs, and great group vocals. The song Sparrow is a sort of a love letter. It’s a romantic song to the idea of the band, to the spirit of the band. It’s about burning into the night and celebrating that experience. We didn’t try to edit the song, we let it go on as long as it wanted to, and I hope it’s going to make people dance and sing. And more than that, I hope it’s going to make people feel the need to be romantic again.”

Formed in Melbourne, Australia and adored the world over, The Cat Empire is a musical success story that continues to be written. The next chapter of The Cat Empire begins with founding members Felix Riebl and Ollie McGill stepping forward with "a re-imagined, vibrant, cross-cultural, and joyful collective of musicians and artists", with new music planned for 2022.
