"Triple Trouble" is a 1918 American short comedy film that is associated with Charlie Chaplin, although it was not an original Chaplin work per se. Instead, it was constructed by Essanay Studios from various unused Chaplin footage and scenes from some of his earlier films.

Background:
After Chaplin left Essanay Studios, they attempted to capitalize on his increasing fame by producing new films from the footage he left behind. "Triple Trouble" is one such effort. It was compiled from outtakes from "Police," and other unused footage from "Life" and "Work," two projects that Chaplin had scrapped.

Plot:
The story, which is somewhat disjointed due to its nature, involves Chaplin's iconic Tramp character, a house he's working in, a cook who is secretly working on an explosive, and various chaotic happenings in and around the house.

Controversy:
Chaplin did not authorize the creation or release of "Triple Trouble" and disowned the film because it was made without his knowledge or consent. Nevertheless, it was distributed and is now often included in collections of Chaplin's early works, even though its creation and narrative were not in line with Chaplin's original intentions or storytelling style.
