Today, I decided to make another video focusing on another Jeopardy Legend, this time, James Holzhauer. Holzhauer's original run on Jeopardy lasted 33 episodes of Season 35 of the American quiz show. In his fourth game, he broke the previous single-game Jeopardy! winnings record (which was $77,000, set by a man named Roger Craig in 2010) by winning $110,914. In fact, of the 33 games he played, Holzhauer exceeded Craig's single-day total 16 times, nearly half the games he played during his original run. This includes a new all-time record set on April 17, when he won $131,127. Holzhauer is also the first and only player to win $100,000 or more in a single episode, a feat he accomplished six times. He won a total of $2,464,216, averaging $75,362 per episode—a 33-day average that nearly equaled the previous all-time single-day record. Holzhauer's average winnings were more than the estimated $43,000 per episode that host Alex Trebek earned for hosting the show. Because of his Jeopardy status, he was selected to be one of the three main chasers on the first season of the ABC version of The Chase, alongside fellow Jeopardy champions, Ken Jennings, and Brad Rutter. James was a chaser throughout all three seasons of the ABC version. But, there’s one thing that I should mention. Before he became a chaser on the ABC version, in fact before he even competed on Jeopardy, he appeared on the GSN version of The Chase, as a contestant, back in 2014. James wasn’t alone in his bout against The Beast, as he had two teammates named Jamie and Jeff alongside him. And Jamie and Jeff are lucky to be one of the few people to have James as an ally in the trivia scene rather than an adversary. With all of that out of the way, let’s watch the real beginning to Holzhauer’s quiz show career.
